How to Care for Silk

Silk is one of the strongest natural fibres, as one of the more luxurious fabrics on the skin. Caring for your silk items properly will ensure your lingerie stays lustrous in your wardrobe, season after season.



How to Wash Silk


Although Dry cleaning is advised to endure the best result especially on tough stains. Hand-washing is also effective. Ensure you wash 100% silk in Lukewarm water similar to your body temperature, using mild and delicate detergent like Thelab.co delicate wash, which clean, condition and protect the integrity of delicate fabric fibres like silk fibres.


You can also add a cap full of distilled vinegar while hand-washing to recondition the fibres and restore its lustre.

If you are in a time crunch washing machine on a gentle hand-wash cycle on cool setting is permitted.

Whether you hand-wash or machine-wash your silks, we advise you take caution and avoid over-washing to preserve the colour.





How to Care for Your Silk


After washing your silks, it is important to know that silks looses up to 20% of their strength when wet, so be gentle when drying, you can wring out excess water with a towel and air dry.


Don't not tumble dry.


Gently steaming or ironing to remove creases.











What about storage?


Silk is fairly low maintenance, we do recommend keeping it away from direct sunlight and in a dry environment to prevent premature fading or colour change.
